Fall Happenings at the Foundation

Crunchy leaves in the driveway and school buses on the roads are both clear signs that fall is right around the corner … and fall means FUN at the Highline Schools Foundation!

Both the Burien Brat Trot 5K on October 7th and the Oktoberfest Dinner, Dance and Auction on October 20th are lively events that benefit the Foundation, and are always a great way to celebrate the start of fall in our community. You will find more information on both these great Foundation events below as well as information about the newest edition of our Hands Around Highline coupon book!

Oktoberfest Dinner, Dance & Auction This event is a fantastic party and fundraiser put on by the Highline Schools Foundation which raises funds to support students in our district in the areas of arts, athletics, classroom innovation, college readiness and other very important work we do to help bridge the gap between state budget cuts and our students’ needs.

Last year’s event was a sell-out, and we are expecting another capacity crowd of Highline Public Schools supporters again this October. We’ve added a real “German Beer Hall” flare to the event this year – you won’t want to miss it!

We are excited to have Dick Fain, KJR Radio Personality, Voice of the Seattle Storm and Highline School District alumnus as our EMCEE and Auctioneer for the 2012 Oktoberfest Dinner, Dance & Auction.

Hands Around Highline Coupon Book

Fundraiser September 18 – October 8, 2012

Hands Around Highline is an annual coupon book featuring coupons from local businesses in the Highline School District and distributed each fall primarily through Highline Public Schools and groups (PTSAs, teams and clubs) as a fundraiser. All proceeds stay local and benefit Highline Public Schools.

This year, the Foundation is again offering all Highline Public Schools and groups (PTSAs, teams and clubs) the opportunity to raise money selling the Hands Around Highline Coupon book. The books sell for $20 and each participating school or group will receive $10 for each book they sell.

Since 1999, the Highline Schools Foundation has been supporting innovation and excellence in Highline Public Schools. Our funding priorities focus on programs to improve academic achievement, supporting college and career readiness, grants to teachers for engaging classroom projects, the arts, athletics, and programs that keep students in school and productive. Highline is a district full of need and opportunity. The Highline Schools Foundation is the only non-profit organization dedicated to all schools in our district—our goal is to help as many students as possible be successful!
