Project PROMise™ Community Dress Drive

Help send local girls to their prom in style!

For many high school girls, going to the prom is an event anticipated for years—but not going to the prom because the family can’t afford a formal dress can be devastating. This year, thanks to the Highline Schools Foundation for Excellence, a number of high school students will be going to the prom in beautiful dresses donated by local organizations and members of the community.  They will also have opportunity to select shoes, bags and other accessories contributed by the local community.

Highline School District high school students in need will be invited to “go shopping” at the Courtyard by Marriott Southcenter this spring, for the perfect dress and accessories for their prom.  The dresses are offered to the girls to keep, or they may return them to the Foundation to be used the following year.

Clean, new or gently used prom dresses, jewelry, and shoes can be dropped off at the Highline Schools Foundation office (located inside ERAC) or the following schools by March 1, 2013:

  •  Aviation High School
  • Big Picture High School
  • Evergreen High School
  • Highline High School
  • Mount Rainier High School
  • Puget Sound Skills Center
  • Tyee Educational Complex

We accept all sizes but have a special need for small and large and plus sizes. We also need accessories including shoes, handbags and jewelry!

Sponsorships are also welcomed and needed! Call the Highline Schools Foundation office at 206-248-5196 for more information or to arrange a pick-up of dresses.

Since 1999, the Highline Schools Foundation has been supporting innovation and excellence in Highline Public Schools. Our funding priorities focus on programs to improve academic achievement, supporting college and career readiness, grants to teachers for engaging classroom projects, the arts, athletics, and programs that keep students in school and productive. Highline is a district full of need and opportunity. The Highline Schools Foundation is the only non-profit organization dedicated to all schools in our district—our goal is to help as many students as possible be successful!
