Would you like to get involved? Highline Schools Foundation has numerous committees that community members can join.

Board Development Committee: The Board Development Committee shall nominate persons to be elected to the Board and offices and nominate persons to fill vacated positions on the Board. This committee also serves as the Nominating Committee and develops the annual slate of officers. The committee shall also be responsible for Trustee orientation and accompanying materials.

Development Committee: The Development Committee oversees and directs fundraising activity—leading the board’s fundraising effort. The committee works with staff to establish a fundraising plan. This plan may include annual events, auctions, end-of-the-year requests, and other activities. The fundraising committee works with staff on their fundraising efforts and sometimes takes the lead in specific activities. The committee also ensures the proper acknowledgement of donors and keeps donor solicitation expenses in line with profits.

Finance Committee: The Finance Committee shall assist the Trustees in meeting their fiduciary responsibilities by scrutinizing the financial statements; reviewing tax reports; developing and implementing the budget; reviewing accounting and investment procedures and policies; and ensuring the regular and timely audit of the accounts of the Foundation. The Finance Committee will recommend to the Board the annual distribution of funds based on the revenue available. The Committee, chaired by the Treasurer and staffed by the Business Manager, operates in a manner consistent with these bylaws.

Marketing Committee: The Marketing Committee guides the work relating to communicating with donors, stakeholders, and others. This committee will help plan newsletters, official communications. Social media platforms, online presence, and contact with the media.

Program Committee: The Program Committee evaluates existing programs, oversees program expansion or development, and facilitates board conversations about its programs. This committee also oversee the Foundation’s grants process, reviewing applications and selecting the recipients.

Scholarship Committee: The Scholarship Committee oversees the process of securing and awarding scholarship funds. They work with donors to develop scholarship agreements and criteria. They oversee the application process and select the students for awards.
