Where and when do the races start?
Race day is Sunday, September 30, 2018. Both races start and end at the corner of 10th Avenue SW and SW 152nd Street in Olde Burien. The 5K starts promptly at 1:00pm and the 1 mile race starts at 2:00pm
Are dogs allowed in the 5k race?
Yes of course! If you are running with your 🐕 dog, we only ask that you line up behind the serious runners.
Are strollers allowed in the 5k?
Yes. We ask those with strollers, small children and/or dogs to start near the back of the pack to avoid our serious racers running for time and medals!
Is it OK to walk?
Absolutely! Brat Trot is very walker friendly!
I registered but now I cannot participate. Can I transfer my registration to someone else?
Yes, we offer transfers to new participants. The registration transfer fee is $2.00 and you can do it online: https://racewire.com/transfer.php?id=8796
Is the event timed?
Yes, with race results by RaceWire. Every race bib will have a code and is tracked automatically so there is no need to mess around with disposable timing chips anymore. Very easy and runner friendly!
Is there gear check?
No, but parking is available in and around Olde Burien. 152nd Street is closed between Ambaum and 10th for Bavarian Fest, but plenty of parking is available on surrounding side streets – but watch out for the lots that require payment. Also, Olde Burien is just a short walk from Burien Towne Square (6th Ave SW and SW 152nd Street) where parking is bountiful.
If someone missed the online sign up deadline can they still register?
Runners can register in person on Saturday, September 29 from 1-4pm on the South Gate Masonic Lodge lawn on the corner of 10th Ave SW and SW 152nd Street in Olde Burien, and Sunday, September 30 from 11:00am to 12:30pm in the same spot. BUT REMEMBER – the Team & Family Registration prices are ONLY available through online registration and the prices go up – so why wait? Register NOW and save some 💰 https://racewire.com/register.php?id=8796
Can I pick up my packet on race day?
Runners can pick up race packets on Saturday, September 29 from 1-4pm and Sunday, September 30 from 11:00am to 12:30pm. Look for the “Registration” sign on the South Gate Masonic Lodge lawn on the corner of 10th Ave SW and SW 152nd Street in Olde Burien.
What happens if it rains?
We all get wet 🌧️. We’ve been fortunate in the past few years with nice weather on race day – although it did sprinkle last year in the morning. The race will not be cancelled or postponed due to weather so please check the forecast and dress for the weather.
Can I volunteer?
YES! There are plenty of volunteer jobs available including race course monitors (over 18), Bavarian Fest set up, pre-race publicity help (posters, banners, yard signs, and more!) and more. Volunteer opportunities are online and can be accessed https://racewire.com/volunteer.php?id=8796.
