The roots of our Oktoberfest Dinner, Dance and Auction can be traced back to a rock n’ roll dance held October 2006 that included a “Best ‘Elaine’ (Seinfeld) dance contest!” (We’re looking for video!) B Rich & the Poor Boy$ played classic hits from the 60′s and 70′s until midnight at the Normandy Park Cove.
Today’s Oktoberfest is still held at the Normandy Park Cove, and there is still dancing, but now this annual event has a merry German Beer Hall atmosphere with friends dressed to the nines in their Lederhosen (you can wear your jeans!). Last year we enjoyed Manny’s Pale Ale from Georgetown Brewing and great food from Dan the Sausageman/The Tin Room Bar & Grill and a spirited and exciting auction led by our auctioneer/emcee KJR’s Dick Fain.
It is always a fun and festive evening that includes hearty food, drinks, dancing and a great silent and live auction to benefit all students and teachers in the Highline School District!
Support from community businesses and corporations is integral to our success. We believe that strong schools improve community life and create a robust economy. We would like to invite you to partner with us in our efforts to promote better schools by becoming a sponsor of our annual Oktoberfest Dinner, Dance and Auction. This event is a festive and fun event designed to bring community members together in support of our schools.
Sponsorships benefit every student, in every classroom, every day. If you would like more information about becoming a sponsor, please contact Ashley Fosberg [email protected] .
2012′s Oktoberfest Dinner, Dance and Auction, held October 20th, raised nearly $45,000 for our kids! “All of the funds raised by Highline Schools Foundation help students and teachers in Highline Public Schools get the resources they need to be successful,” said Foundation Board President Janel Stoneback. “We fund teacher grants for classroom innovation, scholarships, district athletic needs, arts programs and college and career readiness programs among many other needs,” she added. “The need in our district is so great. We are highly motivated to do as much as we can to help our public school students and teachers. By helping our schools, we make our community stronger.”
